Lizzie picked up her wand. One more attempt before giving up. "Lizzie?" her mother called. nooo. Her mom could ruin everything. "Lizzie! come down stairs now! Your cousin is here. Lizzie! Do you here me!" Well, she could try later. Lizzie walked upstairs to where her stuck up boring cousin waited with a scowl on his face. To him she was just that 'weird' family member. "Lizzie say hello, where are your manners. Brian will be staying with us for a month while his parents are on vaction." A whole month with him? That could ruin everything! Hopefully he would just sit in his room all month. without saying hello she left and walked back down to her room. She would deal with him later. right now she had a spell to try.
Brian set down his suitcase in his room. Why did he have to spend his summer at his freakish cousins house? What was she doing now? He could hear her down in her room. Ughh! How could anyone think with all that noise? Brian waited to see if the terrible noise would stop. When it didn't he slipped downstairs to tell her to stop. He knocked on the door. No answer. He could hear some sorta chanting from inside. What language was that? He knocked again with still no answer.Brian couldnt take it anymore. He opened the door slightly. the room was dark except for the purple light that hung from the ceiling. Lizzie's back was to him. She was standing in front of some pot that was smoking. Was there dry ice in there or something? Some animal crept around her feet. Lizzie didnt have any pets! what was that. Suddenly Lizzie tensed. She turned around. Brian tried to close the door quickly but Lizzie saw him anyway. "Brian! What are you doing in my room! What the heck!" Brian came inside "You were loud so I came to tell you to be quiet." He looked at his cousin. She looked like a cross between a goth and a cheerleader. Today she wore dark skinny jeans, and a purple tee shirt. Her long blonde hair was tied back in a ponytail. her face was pale with dark eyeshadow. She wore light pink lip gloss. "So instead of knocking you came inside to spy on me?" she said with a scowl. "i did knock but you didn't answer!" Brian said mad that Lizzie was blaming him. "Get out of my room!"Lizzie screamed. Brian stood in the doorway, "I'm not leaving until you tell what's goin on." Lizzie looked around nervously. The animal crept around the edge of the room. Brian decided it was a cat. "fine," lizzie said exasperated, "you can know but please please please don't tell anyone!" She closed the door. "this is hard to explain, ummm... well where should I start?"
Just as Brian was about to answer and alarm went off. "fire!" Brian shouted thinking the smoke detector had gone off. "Shut up! Its not the smoke detector." Lizzie snapped at him. "Really, then what is it?" "My alarm. Now shut up so that I think." She ran over to the wall and started tapping the wall with a stick. Brian was shocked. What was going on? Alarm? What did that mean? Suddenly, the wall opened up where Lizzie had been tapping the wall moments ago. The cat slinked in. Lizzie walked to the entrance when she saw that Brian wasnt following her she ran back to him, grabbed his arm, and pulled him through the gapping tunnel.
The tunnel was dark when they enteredbut when Lizzie walked forward torches on the wall lit up like some magic castle. Lizzie walked bravely forward. Brian looked back to the entrance he came from. He could just turn around and pretend that none of this had ever happened. The wall closed slowly. "Brian! Are you coming?" Lizzie had stopped walking. The cat stood next to her. "well that depends," Brian said terrified, " are you going to tell me what the heck is going on? And I want the truth." Lizzie sighed,"well i guess that now i have no choice. But your not going to believe me. um.. how do i put this.... I do magic." "wait... what? You're a what... witch? I knew you were a freak! How do I get out of here?" Brian said panicking. What the heck was she talking about. Then Brian realized something, why was he believing her? Like he said; she was a freak! She was probably lying. "Fine you got me! Now can I get out of here? This tunnel is dtarting to scare me.""um... i think theres a safe room at the end of the tunnel" Lizzie said uncertanly. "No. I mean get me out of here! Why are we here in the first place? what did you mean by alarm?" Brian said in one breath, "Answer my questions now or I'm not going anywhere." "Fine! What's first?" Brian was quiet for a minute before saying, "Why? Why are we here? Start from the begining. Now!" Lizzie paced up and down the room. what should she do? should she tell him everything? Maybe she should just let him go back home and continue doing this herself. She was about to just send him home but something told her to let him stay. Lizzie didn't know why but she got the feeling that she would need him later. So for now Brian could stay. But of he was going to stay, she would have to tell him. Everything. "Okay, but not here. Its not safe." Brian gave her a questioning look and opened his mouth as if he was going to protest but Lizzie silenced him with a look. "i will tell you everything but you will have to trust me. Please!"
