VALENTINES DAY Jeromes POV
I woke up feeling like crud not wanting to get up for it was February 14th, valentine’s day, just the thought of it made me sick. I threw on my ugly uniform and slowly walked into the dining room. All the girls were wearing accessories covered in hearts and tiny cupids. While my fellow male classmates stared googly eyed at their girlfriends and crushes. I almost had to leave the room when Fabian presented Nina with a box of crappy chocolates as if he was proposing. During breakfast, everyone seemed to be holding another’s hand. Trudy had decorated the house with hearts, lace, and roses. Even Mara seemed to be enjoying herself even though she had no one to hold hands with. I stared at everyone in disgust, none of what they cared so much about mattered. I probably wouldn’t have been in such a bad mood if Mara had gotten over Mick, if that would’ve happened I’d be sitting by her holding her hand, looking into her dark brown creamy eyes, and presenting her with some cruddy gift from the hallmark store. But, no she couldn’t seem to get over that meat head. The school day seemed to drag on forever, everywhere I looked I saw happy couples holding hands, snogging, and giving each other cards and small gifts. I had just had one of the worst days of my life until I saw something that even heartless rotten souls like me smile at. I saw poppy sitting on a bench with some brunette boy, they were holding hands and swinging their feet talking in short sentences embarrassed, yet happy. I hid behind a bush and watched the two talk they were in there own little world nothing mattered but themselves on that bench. After a couple minutes, the boy reached into his satchel, pulled out a homemade card, and handed it to poppy. Poppy then read the card and kissed the boy on the cheek, I had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing as I watched the boys face turn a dark shade of red. Poppy then hugged him and told him she had to go the boy stood up as she turned to walk away. He then shouted “Happy Valentine’s Day Poppy!” And she turned around and said “Happy Valentine’s day Tyler!” and continued to walk down the stone path to her house. I thought about confronting her and making fun of her and on any other day I probably would have but I realized that those two innocent little kids had a lesson to teach. Even though it may not last, make the most out of every friendship and relationship you have for someday things might begin to matter. After watching Poppy go to her house I slowly walked towards Anubis as the sun began to set I thought to myself, why not? Before I went inside, I removed a red rose from one of the bushes. I walked inside to see Mara sitting alone in the living room; I slowly walked over to her. “This is for all you’ve done to help me,” I said handing her the rose. She looked me in the eyes stood up and said “You’re welcome,” and then kissed me on the cheek, I could feel the blood rising to my cheeks and at that very moment I felt that, that little boy ,Tyler, and me were the same in many ways.
